Returning from a three-year hiatus following the release of their Grammy-nominated effort, Ego Death, Los Angeles future-soul band The Internet floats over spaced out opuses for their highly anticipated fourth studio album, Hive Mind. The 57-minute play touts sticky musical chemistry long in the making. Songs like “Stay the Night,” and “It Gets Better (With Time)” pack eloquent sonic all the while gently illuminating the talents of individual members. Syd Bennett’s vocals creep along exploding ballads while Steve Lacy on chords, Matthew Martin, also known as Matt Martians experimental production flare, and the musicality of members Patrick Paige II and Christopher Smith shapeshift by her side.
